Pink Coat :: Leigh Scherer

If you’ve gotten this far, you’re probably wondering what qualifies me to talk about acne products, review them, and share my opinion with you on The Acne Resource.
A couple things, I guess.
First, I’ve been a travel/celebrity/lifestyle editor my entire 15-year career: Honeymoon magazine (lots of fancy products featured there), Premier Bride (skin care is BIG for weddings!), Hollywood.com (celebrity skin care), and Nikki Style magazine (high end beauty products, among other things). For the last 5 years, I’ve been a marketing and web design consultant, focusing on healthcare, cosmetics, fitness and beauty products. I’ve spent a lot of time looking at product websites, blogs and tracking new product releases for my clients.
So what does that mean? I know the space, and I know how to write — at least a little.
But add to that a good 20 years of struggling with a mild case of acne that seems to only get worse as I get older, and you’ve got what is, in my humble opinion, the real qualification.
Trial and error. Mostly error. And a skin care line on the household budget that I don’t even want to add up. Tubes and tubes of stuff in drawers, then, later, in the garbage.
Especially now that I have a 2+ year old, skin care is harder and harder to maintain. That’s my context. I need something that works, but isn’t complicated or time-consuming. Or something that works so well that I can justify dedicating the time to use it.
So I get a big benefit out of writing these reviews, too. It forces me to at least try to use the acne systems, devices and products as directed. If I find it impossible, you’ll know it.
If there’s anyone out there who might have a different lifestyle perspective to bring to reviews, I’d love to hear from you.
Thanks!
Leigh Scherer
