Neutrogena Complete Acne Therapy System :: First Use
I used the Neutrogena Complete Acne Therapy System for the first time, and here’s my initial take.
First off, the Skin Polishing Acne Cleanser has a nice lather to it; I hate a creamy cleanser, and this one’s got the bubbles I need to see so I can feel like it’s working. So that’s a hit. So far I can definitely recommend it. It doesn’t smell too medicinal, and the exfoliating beads give just the right amount of friction. If you could buy it separately I’d give you a link, but you can’t as far as I can tell. It’s only available as part of the complete system. If you find it sold separately somewhere, please post a link.
The Acne Control Lotion, on the other hand, left my skin feeling unpleasantly tight and looking shiny (not glowing–shiny–like I had an egg-white masque on), even after it dried. It smelled like every other benzoyl peroxide lotion out there, nothing special about it really. Per the instructions, I applied this to the “affected areas,” which for me are pretty much the blackheads and whiteheads on the T-zone: forehead, nose, cheeks, chin. (Sorry for the graphic detail.) I put a little extra on the two pimples on the chin, too.
To finish the routine, I liberally applied the Oil-Free SPF 15 Lotion, making sure to wait until the benzoyl peroxide product had dried, as instructed. (Hmmm, maybe I can really keep this up.) You could definitely tell there was some kind of botanical action in there; it didn’t smell just like a sunscreen, although at the end of the day, it is a sunscreen, so it smells like one. Again, it’s fine, but not really anything special, despite the “DermaNaturals” in there. Even after applying the oil-free lotion, my skin still has a little bit of an egg-white look.
But the ultimate proof will come in a couple of days, so stay tuned!
