This weeks’ product :: Neutrogena’s Complete Acne Therapy System

Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Complete Acne Therapy System

I have this week’s product in hand.
Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Complete Acne Therapy System

(part of the “advanced solutions” product line) is pretty easy to come by and is reasonably priced at around $27. If you want to buy today, without waiting for my humble opinion, you can click the image or the link in this post.

The company claims the following on the box:

1. works faster than Proactiv

2. starts clearing breakouts in just 2 days

3. works below the skin’s surface to help prevent new acne

I won’t be able to judge it against Proactiv, since I’ve never used that product. I’ll be interested to hear what anyone who has has to say. But I definitely have a least two decent size pimples that could use a quick clearing up in two days, and prevention is always a good thing.

The kit includes:

Cleanser: a “skin polishing acne cleanser,” with salicylic acid .5% + “microfine beads.” That sounds good to me; I like a good exfoliation.

Acne-control Lotion: This sounds like a daily spot treatment, not to be confused with the SPF lotion/moisturizer that’s also included. This one contains “prescription-grade” benzoyl peroxide, which, when I check the drug facts equates to 2.5%. In reality, prescription treatments can contain up to 10%, so this is a little bit of a misnomer, but I’ll let that slide. You can learn more about benzoyl peroxide here.

Moisturizer: This is an “oil-free SPF 15 lotion,” to be used as needed. It contains “proprietary botanical complex,” trademark name “DermaNaturals,” whatever that means. The ingredients aren’t actually listed anywhere on the packaging, other than the active sunscreen ingredients (octinoxate and zinc oxide). But regardless of the lack of transparency in the ingredients, it’s good that the kit includes a sunscreen, since the salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide of the other products will probably make my skin more sensitive to UV rays.

Here in South Florida, where The Acne Resource is based, we need a sunscreen pretty much every day, and I’m not sure SPF 15 will completely cut it, but we shall see.

Apparently, I have to use this 3-step system twice a day. And I’m told on the box that “it is important to use all 3 products daily and consistently to help maintain clear skin.” (This despite the “as needed” recommendation on the sunscreen elsewhere on the box. Five minutes in and already I’m confused. And a little anxious, since I really don’t know if I can sustain this system, and I haven’t even started yet.)

So I’m off to try it now. I’ll let you know how it goes.
