There are a LOT of acne websites out there that are nothing more than a place for product manufacturers to sell their goods under the guise of giving you impartial advice. While sometimes they really do just that, at other times, it's a snake-oil sell. We hope this list will help you find the information you want from a reliable source:
Acne.org: This site has a thriving community, reviews, guides and more. Yes, the owner does sell a private-labeled line of products, but this is a fairly recent development and shouldn't stop you from takind advantage of this excellent source of information. We haven't tried the products yet, but hope too soon!
Acne.com: Acne.com is "proudly sponsored by Proactiv Solution," one of the biggest-selling infomercial acne products in the country. While there is good information on this site, there's also a lot of hard sell Proactiv promotion going on, and that may get in the way of finding the unbiased information you really need to solve your acne problem.
American Association of Dermatologists : This top-ranking website, which you'll find on the first page of the Google search results when you search for "acne," really doesn't give much information about the disorder or treatments. A better bet is the organization's dedicated acne website.
About.com's Acne Section: A thorough and nearly complete guide to acne, About.com has a ton of information about the condition, treatments, and causes of acne. If there's one complaint I have, it's that they may not be completely on the cutting edge with the latest device-oriented treatments, but overall, this is what we'd like to be when we grow up. Check it out.
Acne Assasin: This fast-growing site has evolved amazingly over the last few years, and now has forums, a solid blog, and great content. Definitely worth a look.
